Justice Under Cover

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usPalácio de Justiça de Lisboa today 3:33 p.m..

Why is justice going under cover? Is it because it is feeling ashame of being so unfair?

An Unexpected Suggestion

I don't know exactly how I have arrived at this page... but it portrays such a kind of classic beauty and it is so much intertwined with a sentiment of urban life that I have to include here and now a link to it.

To Do's

Orgulho (Pride)
Avareza (Greed)
Inveja (Envy)
Ira (Wrath)
Luxúria (Lust)
Gula (Gluttony)

At least there is one thing I do.

It seems that it snowed yesterday in Lisbon. It is the second time in less than two years. Also, it is the second time in the last fifty years. And true, it is already the third time in the last sixty years.

But most importantly, it was the fourth time in the last eighty years. It is obvious that we must get ourselves prepared!

Preventive Microsoft Theory

Ricemagic provides our beloved readers with the most useful, meaningful to daily living and easy to read pieces of science. Today, a theory on the important matter of keeping a personal computer fast and preventing it from annoying its beloved owner.

Theory: the less computer programmes, applications, operating system constituent parts, automatic updates and etcetera from Microsoft are kept in the hard-disk, the faster a computer functions. For every heavy and slow Internet Explorer there is a fast and sympathetic Mozilla Firefox, for every rigid MSN Messenger there is a happy ICQ, for every annoying Windows Media Player there is a fresh iTunes, for every irritating Hotmail there is a powerful Gmail, for every inconsequent Windows Firewall there is a shinning McAfee Firewall.

Stop using Microsoft NOW! It is harmful to the health of your computer and to the health of the surrounding ones.

I Do Not Want To Drive At 50Km/h in the Campo Grande Tunnels

I know, it is true, and I complain very often about it: driving in Lisbon is a terrible war of danger and disrespect. People kill and get killed: when crossing the street, while waiting for the traffic light to turn green, while driving, etc.. I know that people have killed and got killed in Campo Grande. But driving at 50Km/h there is too slow. It is too slow for our urban mind! Our way of living the city gets impaired with so much slowness. And it is a straight and very long road without any crossings! Why reduce speed exactly in such a fast road? Why torturing our minds like this?

In the next days I will take some pictures of the "radar indicators" in Campo Grande while driving... at 50Km/h.

A Sad News: Mega FM Commited Suicide With Sardet

It was 8.09 p.m.: on 92.4fm, André Sardet could be listened to. What used to be the best radio of Lisbon died precisely in that moment. Sardet is the worst singer/songwriter ever. There has never been so much boredom, so much slowness, so much tearjerking, so much idiotic and square sentimentality. We don't complain that Mega FM has been slowly reducing the share of U2-Pearl Jam-Xuto & Pontapés-etc. and increasing the share of Rhyanas and Pussycat Dolls, trading rock for R&B and even hip-hop. (We care about it, but we can accept it). But one thing is dance music substituting pop music (and we love Moloko!), another completely different thing is André Sardet.

André Sardet is not only extremely bad-boring and slow: this guy that never sold many records, he didn't sell anything, has suddenly and strangely this huge success with a best of. Successful best ofs follow successful studio cds. How come he had now, after years of no popularity at all, got so many records sold? Who purchased them? He himself and friends? If nobody cared for his songs since he first appeared, why can he become famous now with a best of? The best of has nothing essentially different, new or special when compared with those original cds that didn't get to be accepted by the public. And this case is even stranger when one realizes the huge difference between the prior no record selling with the present tremendously high sellings.

In the music industry, the more one sells the more attention from the media one gets. And the more people believe something is popular, the more people become curious about it. I really believe someone bought cds strategically or twisted some numbers in this strange sardet success case. In any case, Mega FM is no longer.

Duplicity in Love

Who do you like more: your father or your mother?

Ricemagic hates this kind of answer. Actually, Ricemagic hates this kind of hypocritical attitude.

That comparison is not valid because those things are simply not comparable.

Ricemagic hates this kind of sentence and attitude as well.

A never made debate, but one that is feverishly active in my heart, mind and senses is GNR versus Xutos & Pontapés.

What is the best rock band?

Loving equally two entities is actually not that rare (and the love for the parents is not the good and obvious example because it is not even an example).

Love is time and identification. Its most important symptom is the great amount of time one wants to be with another. Another symptom is the great amount of time during which one feels the presence of another. All the activities, the books, the cds, some ways of speaking, some gestures that one gets from another: that is identification.

Wanting to be now like the other is, that’s love. Wanting to be then like the other is, that’s admiration.

Time is a most important thing when distinguishing feelings.

(Wanting to have now what the other has, that is ambition.).

Esta Noite Sinto-me Assim (ii)

What will one day
Become of us
We'll grow as grass under their feet
No one here will ever know your name
And you still lie here next to me

If it takes another life
I'll wait for you
On the other side
Everything that comes to me
As good
Belongs to you
I'll count our blessings as I
Wait for you
On the other side
Good luck and I will see you through

Get used to this
You're going to be alright
The world goes on with or without me
If I don't ever leave a thing behind
I'll still leave you without me

If it takes another life
I'll wait for you
On the other side
Everything that comes to me
As good
Belongs to you
I'll count our blessings as I
Wait for you
On the other side
Good luck and I will see you through

If it takes another life
I'll wait for you
On the other side
Everything that comes to me
As good
Belongs to you
I'll count our blessings as I
Wait for you
On the other side
Good luck and I will see you through

And I have a right to be in love
And I have a right to be loved
There’ll be over the rainbow
For me

Lisbon's Network #2

This is the Cinemateca. The place where cinemalovers, cinema-addicts, cinema-mads and people that really like good cinema come. One gets the three "typical categories" here: American cinema, European cinema and World cinema. These categories don't sound much politically correct but they were probably invented by some politically correct individual (thus, the non-politically correct people are allowed to use them too).Image Hosted by <span onclick=
Cinemateca Portuguesa/Museu do Cinema Rua Barata Salgueiro, 39 Lisboa

It has also a bar/restaurant, nice for meeting people: from catholic volunteers to retired "true communists", one can get most of the city's available categories of interesting people. Being interesting is naturally a truly subjective matter, just like cinema is.

Duisburg: Ein Bild des Hafens
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
